One proposal for making and efficient data transmission is ABR (Available Bit Rate). It can determine the cell emission rate of a source based on the feedback of information about congestion in the network and the destination. This paper evaluates the performance of ABR, focusing on a wide area network using TCP/IP with ABR. We found that a limit on PCR is needed when EFCI marking is used in ABR, Whereas ER marking in ABR produces high throughput and excellent fairness.
