Dynamic communication admission control (dynamic CAC) has been proposed as one of the connection admission controls for asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks. Dynamic CAC uses the distributions of the number of cells arriving during a fixed interval. This distribution is renewed by exponential forecasting with smoothing parameter a. This paper proposes a parameter design method that will enable this control to provide high utilization while suppressing VP GOS deterioration due to excess VC connections.
