Miyake, K., Saito, H., and Chaki, S., "Traffic Control for ATM Networks," NTT R&D, 42, 3, pp. 319-330 (1993).
This paper discusses a traffic control architecture and technology for an ATM network. Traffic control is a key issue in an ATM network to achieve high-speed performance economically. The main focus of the paper is on the connection admission control, usage parameter control, and congestion control, which are characteristic elements of traffic control in an ATM-based network.
This traffic control architecture and technology is applied to an ATM node system which is newly developed by NTT Communication Switching Laboratories. The relationship between our traffic control and CCITT's international standard is also discussed.
