Dennis Lehaneの４作目．私自身は他のサイトであまり評判のよくなかったSacredを飛ばして３冊目．大概はシリーズを読み進めるとだんだん読みやすくなるものですが，どうもそういう感じがありません．特に今回は何回かの立ち回りがありますが，その部分は飛ばし読みや，字面を追うだけでなく，ゆっくりと単語なども確認しなければ，いったい，今どういう場所で，どんな体勢になっているのかもわからなくなります．総語数が約１２万語と私の読んだここ数年のミステリーではベスト５に入る語数．ただし，前作への言及もそこかしこにあるので，１作目から読んで正解でした．
