どういう経緯でこの本を読むことになったのかさっぱり覚えていません。最近のペーパーバックの購入は，新聞の書評などで気になったものをAmazonのWishlistに登録しておいて，手持ちの本がなくなった頃まとめて注文することにしています。そこで，wish list登録と購入，実際の読書にはかなりの時間差が発生し，読み始める時にはどうして，この本を読むことにしたのかわからなくなります。
さて，前回のStone Kissもそうでしたが，シリーズ物の１冊で，これも途中のシリーズ。
インターネットでできるだけ予備知識を得ることにしましたが，どうも，シリーズでは事件で知り合った女性と恋いに落ち，結婚し，娘が誕生し，そして，妻が死亡。仕事の関係で知り合ったSusanとはすでに関係ができあがっているので，前作ぐらいに登場したかもしれません。
Amazonのレビューも読みましたが，結構好意的，「手に汗握る」とかなっていましたが，私としてはかなりのB級。犯人の設定もかなり安易で，さらになぜ，このことにこれほどまでの人が死ななければならないのか今ひとつ理解できませんでした。せめて，後半のメキシコ旅行が楽しめたことが慰めか。

一読してよくわかりませんでした。（そういう文はいっぱいありますが…）
Martiniの英文は（この作品に限れば）現在形ですべて語られます。最初違和感がありましたが，全体が現在形なので，時制が過去形と現在形に限られ，記述がシンプルになります。
pig in the pitは豚の丸焼きといった料理のようです。
